The second week of Camp April is almost over and I'm having a great time 🏕️
Had a difficult hike through the Muse Mountains so headed back to camp. I made sure to take a short stop at Lake Creative-Break and managed to avoid a writers block avalanche - very risky and not uncommon around those mountain ranges.
Last week, I was able to complete all of my novel's external details before the end of my Sunday 7th April deadline 🥳 Now, I've been working on the story structure and narrative depth details.
This includes:
- Story Types
- Action, Crime, Horror, Love, Worldview, Validation, Redemption - these are separate to standard genres and are the 7 most common categories stories can fall into
- Save the Cat! Story Genres
- Whydunit, Rites of Passage, Institutionalised, Superhero, Dude with a Problem, Fool Triumphant, Buddy Love, Out of the Bottle, Golden Fleece, Monster in the House - also separate to standard genres and are another categorisation for stories
- Key Moments template
- Subplot templates
- Scene plans
- Word Counts
Since you are reading this on my blog, here is a sneak peek at my progress for this week:
If you would like to follow my journey during April's challenge, I will be posting a new update here every week. Each post will have a summary of the progress I've made as well as details about the story I'll be working on.
I will also be posting a shorter version of my updates on Instagram on the same day as the blog posts. Please feel free to check those out if you prefer quicker reading.
Stayed tuned!
