Missing - A Short Story

In the midst of WWII, Mary, a W.A.A.F nurse working long hours in a hospital, anxiously awaits a letter from her husband, a light tank soldier deployed in Germany.

Note: This is a mostly fictionalised version of a story my Great Nan told me about her time as a W.A.A.F nurse during WWII. Mary and Ron, and their roles during the war, were real. They were my Great Grandparents and I miss them greatly. The cover image is a real photo of them on their honeymoon.

Further Note: The italicised lines at the beginning and ending of the story are from the poem ‘If I Should Go’ by Joyce Grenfell, which was read at my Great Nan's funeral.
