Welcome to my end-of-2024 roundup!
Where I provide an up-to-date summary of all my current projects for this year ๐
Starting with writing:
This year I have shared 8 pieces of short fiction and 7 poems both here and on Instagram. I also wrote and published a collaborative post with the brilliant writer, Mars, in November.
Regarding editing:
I spent the first half of 2024 focusing on edits for my dark fantasy novel, Bones & Dreams. After much thought, I ended up shifting my attention to editing my post-apocalyptic, alternative historical fiction novel, Sanctuary-on-Severn, in the July.
In November, I finished my first round of structural edits for Sanctuary-on-Severn. This month, I have been doing preparation work for when I start doing my character edits in the new year.
For my other creative projects:
Once More - a cozy adventure fantasy - I worked on plotting the incomplete first draft.
Substance of Spirit - fantasy novel with a focus on mental health and trauma - I devoted time to character and magic creation (still in planning stages).
Haunted - a novella about a man haunted by the woman he murdered - I worked on plotting the incomplete first draft.
Bones & Dreams - I collected inspiration and ideas in my thought bank for when I return to editing this novel.
Reading:
Unfortunately, I haven't done much reading this year ☹️I read Malice, the first book in John Gwynne's The Faithful and the Fallen series, as well as The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks.
I also read about 75% of Valour, the second book in John Gwynne's The Faithful and the Fallen series.
Other notable things that happened:
I turned 30 in the January.
Got rid of several toxic people from my life in the March and changed my mindset to help me no longer listen to the thoughts they placed in my head.
Did my own version of Camp NaNoWriMo in the April and also got my sixth tattoo done (a copy of the love heart pattern one of the dogs we lost had on his side).
My partner and I went on a mini-break at one of our favourite places in the June, I started a new creative routine, and started my 'My Week as a Writer' posts.
In the July, I started my 'Monthly Roundup' posts and decorated my writing space.
In the August, I got a new desk stand that allows me to work/write while sitting or standing, my partner and I celebrated our 13-year anniversary, and I started working with the fantastic writing coach, Rachel Giffin.
Mars and I are started communicating in the September and have since become good friends.
And in the December (this month), my partner and I went on a mini-holiday for his birthday, we also got our puppy, Skif, and I hit 700 followers on Instagram๐
So, there you have it, an up-to-date roundup of my 2024! I am looking forward to seeing what 2025 brings. Keep an eye out for my next post on January 2nd to see my goals for next year ๐
