Camp April: Weel 1 Update

The first week of Camp April is almost over 🏕️

After a slight set back earlier in the week, I have finally settled into my campsite, pitched up my writing tent, and roasted story marshmallows over a warm fire of inspiration.

In other words, I have been getting stuck into a part of storytelling that is important when you plan to publish in any way: the external details.

These include:

  • The Ideal Reader or Target Audience
  • Comparison Titles
    • These are books that are similar to your own - I will share the comparison titles for my novel once I'm further in the editing stage just in case these change along the way
  • Premise
  • Synopsis
  • Story Genre
  • Theme
  • Narrative Point of View
    • This is regarding the narrator of the story rather than the character we are following in the story. Who is telling the story? Who are they telling it to? Why? etc.

I had no idea what these would be for my story before I wrote it. But now, in the editing stage, I finally know and I'm excited for it 🙂

Since you are reading this on my blog, here is a sneak peek at my progress for this week:

As you can see above, my deadline for getting those external details completed is this Sunday, so I will be working on this goal tonight and tomorrow. I'm excited to get this part of my story project profile for Bones & Dreams done and move onto the next one!

I haven't felt this motivated in a long time (years, in fact) and I'm just loving how it makes me feel 😊

If you would like to follow my journey during April's challenge, I will be posting a new update here every week. Each post will have a summary of the progress I've made as well as details about the story I'll be working on.

I will also be posting a shorter version of my updates on Instagram on the same day as the blog posts. Please feel free to check those out if you prefer quicker reading.

Stayed tuned!
