Monthly Roundup: September 2024

Welcome to the Monthly Roundup: September 2024 edition!  

Where I provide an up-to-date summary of all my current projects 😊

Creative Project(s):

I am staying the course of the editing journey for my alternative historical post-apocalyptic novel, Santcuary on Seven with the goal to finish my current round of structural edits by October 31st, 2024.

For the past six weeks, I have been working with the wonderful and talented book coach, Rachel Giffin. Rachel is as brilliant a person as she is a coach. She has helped me with remembering my potential and my talents within writing while also identifying areas of improvement that I was unaware of. Her comments have helped me out of blocks, tricky plot/character struggles, and imposter syndrome multiple times. Sanctuary on Severn is set to become a better novel because of her coaching and I am looking forward to our continued sessions over the coming weeks 🙂

Current Read:

I am currently still reading Valour by John Gwynne - the second book in his 'The Faithful and The Fallen' series.  

I have not yet read further than page 459 due to my personal life recently being busier than normal but I should regain more free time soon. 

However, I did read The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks (recommended to me by Rachel Giffin) which really helped me understand and strategise against mental blocks. A definite recommendation for sure!

Other projects:

I currently have no concrete plans to work on my other writing projects while editing  Sanctuary on Severn. However, I have been gaining ideas for new stories as well as for the unfinished stories sitting on my shelf of writing projects. These have been noted down and tucked away for future Amy to deal with 😂

The rest of my time is currently (mostly) occupied with planning and organising things for mine and my partner's wedding. We will be getting married in October 2025 and, although this is still a year away, there things that needs to be done, or at least thought about and planned, this far in advance - including a meal tasting at the venue next month 🧑‍🍳
