Monthly Roundup: April 2026

Welcome to the Monthly Roundup: April 2026 edition!

Where I provide an up-to-date summary of all my current projects 😊

Can you believe its been a whole year since the last time I did one of these?? 😲🤯

A whole lot has happened (some good, same bad) since then - in no particular order:

  • I got married!! ❤️😁
  • Had yet another tattoo done
  • My husband and I are working with a behavioural therapist for our pup, Skif, who seems to have been born with a major anxiety disorder
  • I'm still having therapy and I feel like we're really getting somewhere
  • The job I worked at for 4 years made me and my team redundant in favour of a cheaper option (outsourcing) 😠😢
  • I started my own fiction editing business specialising in fantasy, historical (pre-WW1), and sepculative fiction. You can find more about this here ✨
  • Learning about positive psychology, watching webinars on writing/editing etc., and sessions with my book coach have all been on hold while I've been trying to stay on top of the chaos. I'm hoping to get back into these again in the near future 🤞
  • Lost weight (need to for my health) in time for the wedding ... then put it back on - getting back into my weight loss routine now though 😭
  • I got a new day job to help pay the bills while my editing business grows
  • Started posting on this blog again
  • Created a website for my writing and my editing services
  • Began writing and editing again
  • And ... my close friend/editing client/fellow writer, Aspen Mars, and I are working on a shared world anthology together that focuses on a realistic zombie apocalypse - learn more about this here.

But enough of all that, let's get to what you really came here for, the updates on my current projects 😉

Creative Project(s):

For my post-apocalyptic, alternative historical, YA novel, character edits helped uncover more structural (plot) issues, so I'm back to rewriting scenes and building up subplots 😅

In full transparency, I have been really struggling to get back into editing this novel, but I found a few things that have helped me get back into the flow. You can read all about them here

Regarding the shared world zombie apocalypse anthology, we have created all of the worldbuilding we need for now and have several story ideas ready to go (some of which are already in the process of being written). We have a plan to publish (more details will be revealed soon) along with extra fun things planned, such as illustrations and bonus materials. We're very excited!!

Finally, there is an epic fantasy novel story cooking in the back of my mind that has started throwing scenes at me. So, it looks like I might have to get writing that soon too 😂

To see my previous (and future) progress on any of my creative projects, you can follow my My Week as a Writer posts on Instagram as well as my Monthly Roundup posts on this blog!

Current Read:

Right now, with two jobs, and everything else life seems to want to throw at people lately, I don't have much time for reading outside of my editing business.

But, for that, I am currently reading three wondeful fantasy novels:

  • The Song of the Blackthorn Tree by Rachel Giffin (yes, my book coach 😅) which is being released later this year
  • The Glisten of the Darkness by Aspen Mars
  • Of Silver Blood & Fire by River Melody
... and more client stories in the pipeline 😊

Other projects:

None right now 😅

.. so, there you have it, an up-to-date roundup of all my current projects 🙂

Remember to eep your eyes peeled for more news here and on my Instagram!
