Proving A Much Needed Point To Myself

Lately, my brain has been telling me that I'm the problem and my ability to write has simply gone ...

After hearing that voice for long enough, and not getting anything done because of it, I finally got fed up and decided to prove it wrong.

The exercise I settled on was simple: write a short story idea I've been wanting to tackle for months. It's one of those ideas that excites me every time I think about it, but somehow I just hadn't made the time to actually write it.

My initial goal was to finish the whole story by the end of the last week's long weekend here in the UK for Easter.

I managed to write half the story in that time.

I'll be honest - I was a little disappointed at first. But, instead of spiralling, I chose to cheer myself on for writing even half of it. After all, it was the most writing I'd managed to do in over a year.

So, I kept going.

I moved my deadline to today, and last night I almost reached the end. Unfortunately, bedtime arrived a little too quickly for me to be able to finish the story, BUT all that's left now is the final scene - which I will be writing today.

Honestly, I'm just really proud of myself for trying and for beating negativity's butt.

I set out to prove my brain wrong, and not only did I manage that, I ended up with an entire story's worth of reassurance 🥳

Look out for the full story here on my blog this weekend: a ghost hunt parody told from the ghosts' perspective 👻

Keep your eyes peeled for more news on my writing here and on my Instagram!
